Dear Bradburn,

     I have word this evening that my mother is very sick, and I leave in the morning for Athol.

     I think I shall probably remain there a few weeks—if so I will write you—and shall depend upon hearing often from you.

     Please present my respects to Mrs. Hildreth and Mrs. Sargeant, and tell them the reason I could not call upon them again.
